Seva Mandir is an organisation that runs non-formal education centres to cater to children from poor tribal families in 583 villages of Rajasthan. Access to education is limited either because
it is locally unavailable or because of domestic and economic pressures or sometimes because it has traditionally not been accorded value.
Seva Mandir involves local communities in the management of these education centres and trains local instructors. They equip children with essential skills for
coping with the challenges of contemporary life.
Activities are run in rooms donated or rented out by villagers. Children are taught basic numeric & literacy skills by young men and women from the village.
Besides the 3Rs, good habits, creative activities, visits to city/zoo/library are also undertaken. $40 US provides 1 child with quality education
for 1 year. Click on the link to find out more about the Seva Mandir project.
